What is this medication?
SPRYCEL (Dasatinib)
Antineoplastic Agent, BCR-ABL Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor
SPRYCEL (Dasatinib) is a kinase inhibitor indicated for the treatment of Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in chronic phase. SPRYCEL is also indicated for treatment of chronic, accelerated, or myeloid or lymphoid blast phase Ph+ CML with resistance or intolerance to prior therapy including imatinib. SPRYCEL is indicated for the treatment of Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL) with resistance or intolerance to prior therapy.
How does this medication work?
SPRYCEL (Dasatinib) is a BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase inhibitor that targets most imatinib-resistant BCR-ABL mutations (except the T315I and F317V mutants) by distinctly binding to active and inactive ABL-kinase. Kinase inhibition halts proliferation of leukemia cells.
